Omid Rahimi (born July 28 in Tehran) is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of MIROV24, a media strategist and senior media expert, political analyst, television and radio host and producer, with a professional background in journalism, directing, and cultural programming.
He holds a Diploma in Theatre Arts, a Bachelor's degree in Directing, and a Master's degree in Media Management. He also pursued a Ph.D. in International Relations but discontinued midway through the program to focus on his professional activities in the fields of media and politics.
Omid began his creative journey at the age of eight by studying story-writing at Tehran's Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults. At seventeen, he published his first poetry collection, Poet of the Rain, which marked the start of his literary career. He went on to publish in numerous journals such as Abrar and Roshd, while writing plays for young audiences and later working in theater as a playwright, director, and actor.
Following his graduation in film directing, Omid transitioned to television production and went on to serve as Director of Broadcasting, Producer, Director, and Anchor in several Persian-language networks outside Iran, including Mahaajer TV, Iran Music, PDF, and Navahang TV.
He has produced more than 100 radio podcasts for Navahang Radio as both producer and host, and later served as Director of Navahang Radio and Director of Navahang TV.
Omid's outspoken criticism of the Islamic Republic's restrictive policies on music — particularly its censorship, gender-based bans, and ideological classification of "permitted" versus "underground" music — led to multiple arrests and interrogations by the Ministry of Intelligence, the Police Intelligence Unit, and the IRGC beginning in 2007. Eventually tried before Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, he was banned from professional work and forced into exile.
After leaving Iran, he settled in Tajikistan, where his artistic pursuits gradually gave way to journalistic and political activism. As an independent analyst and media strategist, he became an outspoken critic of the Iranian regime and its foundational doctrine of Velayat-e Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist).
Omid has since founded and led several social media campaigns, the most notable being "UnfollowOfficialCelebrities", a movement opposing state-affiliated public figures.
He has collaborated with several independent Persian-language media outlets as a journalist, editor, and communication strategist. He currently serves as Chief Editor of Didehban-e Foroupashi (Observer of the Collapse), and as Senior Media Adviser to Dr. Javad Khadem, a former minister in Shapour Bakhtiar's cabinet, coordinator of the Nojeh Coup, and founder of Unity for Democracy in Iran.
